El Valle Amphibian Conservation Center has a new, familiar physical location for its facilities. The Hotel Campestre and EVACC Foundation signed an agreement in which the project moved its installations on the back property of the hotel. In less than one year the project has procured four shipping containers and turned two of them into amphibian breeding laboratories, one into the invertebrate (mainly cricket) breeding facility, and one for storage items.
Our insurance colonies of amphibians includes Atelopus zeteki, Atelopus varius, Gastrotheca cornuta, Anotheca spinosa, Isthmolyla graceae, Ecnomiohyla miliaria, and Hemiphractus elioti, all of which we continue to breed, maintain, and continually learn from in captivity.
As we grow in the new space, we are also setting up a public area where people can come and see both endangered and common Panamanian species of amphibians and learn about them as well. This interactive discovery center will be and exciting addition to the ways people young and old can enjoy the beauty and nature of El Valle.
